2025 Who's Who in Chicagoland Real Estate
By: Chicago Agent Magazine
An award-winning advisor with Engel & Völkers Chicago, Wade Marshall has always had an eye for reimagining spaces and recognizing a property’s full potential. “As a child growing up in a minister of music’s home, I spent a lot of time in church,” he recalls. “I remember using the church bulletin at an early age to draw floorplans.”
That early curiosity for design and form became the foundation for a career built on creativity, objectivity and client-centered insight. “My role is to see properties through my clients’ eyes,” Marshall says. “I help expand their thinking while staying focused on solutions that serve their goals.”
Former WBBM-Ch. 2 reporter Pam Zekman sells Uptown home for $1.5M
By: Bob Goldsbourough
Former WBBM-Ch. 2 investigative reporter Pam Zekman on Oct. 21 sold her six-bedroom, Prairie-style house in Uptown’s Buena Park area for $1.5 million.
Zekman was a star investigative reporter who was part of two Pulitzer Prize-winning Tribune investigations in the 1970s before joining the Chicago Sun-Times and working as a critical part of that paper’s famed undercover Mirage Tavern series, which resulted in the firings of city workers, indictments and the reform of several agencies. CBS 2 hired Zekman in 1981, and she led investigation after investigation there until leaving the station in 2020.

After a long career in sales and marketing, Wade Marshall followed his passion for architecture and renovations of older homes, condos and co-ops. He purchased a condo in a pre-war building that he then fully renovated as his new home. “I moved into real estate with my main interest being related to the design and renovation element,” Marshall explains. “I love helping others see the potential in spaces and reimagining them.”

E&V’s annual Pride Summit takes a different tone
By: Chicago Agent Magazine
Pride may look a little different this year. Many businesses appear less dedicated to the rainbow, worried about consumer backlash. So, perhaps more than ever, Engel & Völkers’ (EV) annual Pride Summit offered a necessary space to commune, proudly.
The two-day event kicked off with a cocktail reception at E&V’s Chicago shop in Lincoln Park, on June 2, followed by a day full of talks and panels at 110 North Wacker. There, on June 3, E&V’s CEO Anthony Hitt started the morning by reflecting on the space.

First Thing's First

Also in June, Engel & Völkers (E&V) held their second annual Pride Leadership Summit! As you might’ve guessed this is right up Agent X’s alley and I was in attendance with bells on (figuratively and literally). Held at the Wacker Ballroom on June 12, presenters shared approaches to promoting the LGBTQ+ real estate community. There was also a welcome reception on the evening of the 11th and folks came from all over North America to slurp wine, eat food and pose for pictures in the rainbow-decorated E&V office — and there was another party with MORE wine at the swanky apartment of E&V agent Wade Marshall following the summit.
A vocal celebration: The Engel & Völkers 2023 Pride Leadership Summit
By: Emily Mack
Last year, on the morning of Engel & Völkers’ (E&V) inaugural Pride Leadership Summit, Roe v. Wade was overturned. There was a stunned energy in the air. But this year, that sting was replaced by a vocal urgency. At the second annual event, held June 12 at the Wacker Ballroom, a series of presenters and panelists shared educational, actionable approaches to promote the LGBTQ+ community — in and out of real estate.
Festivities kicked off the night prior with a welcome reception at the E&V Chicago shop. Seventy-five people came to celebrate the upcoming event, many of them traveling from all over North America to attend. They chatted over glasses wine and rounds of hors d’oeuvres and posed for photos around the rainbow-decorated office. But the next morning, the summit was all about business.
Luxury home sales — they’re more than just a price point
By: Emily Mack
The E&V brand does especially well in affluent markets, like Beverly Hills and South Florida, according to Ames, where they regularly oversee $40 and $50 million listings. “Trophy homes,” Ames calls some of them. But in Chicagoland, where E&V maintains three shops, the market looks a little different. “There’s a Midwest mindset,” she said. “There’s not the same shininess in our market … but there are extraordinary properties. There’s extraordinary wealth, and there’s extraordinary investments in real estate.”
It’s investments like that which drive E&V’s recent “Live Your Luxury” campaign. The series of postcards features the wisdom of local E&V advisors, reflecting on what luxury might mean to their client. “There is nothing better than those small moments,” reads E&V Chicago advisor Wade Marshall’s piece, accompanied by a photo of friends making breakfast.
Celebration and Education: The Engel & Völkers 2022 Pride Leadership Summit
By: Emily Mack
Authentic was the word of the day at the Engel & Völkers (E&V) 2022 Pride Leadership Summit. The event, which took place at The Dawson on June 24, centered LGBTQ+ real estate professionals who spoke openly about their personal and professional experiences. And while official panels made space for those conversations, a spirit of genuine openness was also felt even in the day’s most casual chitchat.
That Friday morning, just as the summit began, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. So, in a room full of marginalized community members, questions came up naturally: What do we do now? What other rights are at risk? The news imbued all talk with a sense of urgency.
